Winthrop University, based in Rock Hill, South Carolina offers 37 undergraduate and 25 graduate degrees through more than 100 programs of study. Seeking a barcode application that would enable the scanning of ID cards when students enter and leave labs, Winthrop sought the expert services of Chicago Software Solutions (CSS).

The barcoding solution developed by CSS allows for the lab staff to scan student IDs upon entering and leaving facilities, recording the ID, time and date of the scan. When scanning, the software confirms that the ID is valid and displays the student name for verification. The software also includes reporting tools for tabulating all visits and visit durations per a given date range, as well as functionality to generate reports for individual students.
